Last week we unveiled Runner Tracking for Eastern States 100—a solution born from the reality that much of the course has little to no cell service, making app-based tracking impossible and GPS trackers prohibitively expensive. The response has been tremendous!

Now it's even better.

In addition to using "Locate Your Runner" to search for a specific runner and view their aid station splits, departure times, and race status, you can:

  • Watch the race unfold on an interactive course map

  • Follow the current race standings in real time

But we didn't stop there. We kept building until it became a true RACE TRACKER!!

Click on any aid station on the map to see:

  • Opening and cutoff times

  • Available services, including bathrooms, nutrition, and whether crew access is permitted

  • Mileage into the race

  • Distance and elevation gain/loss to the next aid station

  • Cell service availability and carriers at that location

  • Current weather conditions and the next six hours of hourly forecasts

Whoa! Holy geospatial wizardry, Batman! It's like the Batcomputer for trail races! It does everything except run the hundred miles for you.

But steady, Robin. It's the product of careful planning, dedicated volunteers, and a remarkable amount of GIS data.

A huge thank you to Tom Costello and his team, who are undoubtedly hard at work somewhere in a cave beneath an otherwise ordinary office building in suburban Philadelphia. Eastern States 100 Race Tracking: Works on desktop and mobile. Remember, this is the PA Wilds—runners are updated only when they reach an aid station and volunteers transmit their times. The website refreshes every 10 minutes.
