An important Eastern States 100 deadline is approaching

Registration closes Thursday, July 30 at Noon EDT, and at that time we will temporarily freeze the waitlist. This allows our timing company to finalize the field, program runner and pacer bibs, our staff to process our paperwork, and prepare everything for race weekend.

If you're currently registered but know you won't be racing (whether due to injury, scheduling conflicts, or life getting in the way) please withdraw as soon as possible. It's the right thing to do and may give another runner the opportunity they've been training and hoping for.

Eastern States is also not a race that "I will DNF but I will see how far I can get" event. Every runner on the course relies on an enormous volunteer effort, medical support, communications, logistics, and safety personnel. Those resources need to remain focused on supporting the entire field and responding to genuine emergencies and not toward preventable situations.

For those on the waitlist: unlike past years, we do not expect to clear the entire list. However, there is still a small possibility for you to get in. During bib pickup on Friday, August 7, we'll determine how many registered runners did not check in and release any available spots. Realistically, don't expect many openings. By that point, most registered runners have invested not only in their entry fee, but also travel, lodging, crews, pacers, months of training, and countless personal sacrifices to make it to the starting line.

Whether you're in the field or still waiting, thank you for your patience, sportsmanship, and respect for your fellow runners. That's what the grassroots Eastern States community is all about.
